UNIMALNEWS | Bukit Indah - The badminton team of Malikussaleh University emerged as the overall champion in the badminton sports discipline at the Aceh Regional Student Sports Week (POMDA) 2023, amassing a total of eight medals. The badminton matches spanned four days and concluded on Friday (22/09/2023) at the Unimal Sports Hall, Bukit Indah Campus, Lhokseumawe.

The medals secured by Unimal's badminton team include four gold medals, one silver, and three bronzes. One gold medal was earned in the women's team category, while the other three came from individual categories: men's singles (Arifky), men's doubles (Arifky and Aria), and mixed doubles (Aria and Fatia).

Furthermore, the silver medal was won by Fatia in the women's singles individual category, and the bronze medals were achieved by Isti and Ulfia in the women's doubles individual category, Isti and Reza in the mixed doubles individual category, and one medal from the men's team category.

Expressing his joy, Arnawan Hasibuan, the coach of Unimal's badminton team, shared his delight in successfully guiding the Unimal team to medal achievements in this year's Pomda. He expressed pride in the athletes' hard work and dedication, resulting in the accomplishments they have made.

"I feel proud that our team could achieve such satisfying results in this event. Hopefully, with even more dedicated training, the future achievements will be even better, considering the significant potential they possess," said Arnawan Hasibuan, a faculty member of the Faculty of Engineering at Unimal.

Meanwhile, Razif, the head of the Unimal athlete contingent at POMDA Aceh 2023, expressed pride in the achievements made by the Unimal athletes in the badminton discipline at POMDA Aceh 2023. He mentioned that securing medals by defeating favored opponents such as Syiah Kuala University and Teuku Umar University contributed to Unimal being crowned the overall champion in the badminton discipline at POMDA Aceh 2023. This achievement also played a role in Unimal securing the runner-up position in the overall medal standings at POMDA Aceh 2023.
