
UNIMALNEWS — Krueng Mane - Universitas Malikussaleh (Unimal), in collaboration with DIAN/Interfidei, distributed humanitarian aid packages to flood victims at Kampong Paloh Raya (Muara Batu Subdistrict) and Kampong Lagang (Sawang Subdistrict), North Aceh, on Thursday (Feb 5, 2026).
The aid was delivered directly by the Head of the Language, Public Relations, and Publishing Center at Universitas Malikussaleh, Dr. Teuku Kemal Fasya, M.Hum, to dozens of affected residents who remain in emergency conditions following the disaster.
The distributed packages consisted of The Qurans, prayer robes (mukena), and sarongs. These items were provided as a form of spiritual support for the victims and to help fulfill their religious needs ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
Dr. Teuku Kemal Fasya noted that Paloh Raya and Lagang were two of the hardest-hit areas. In Paloh Raya itself, 21 residents were reported dead, while hundreds of homes were washed away or severely damaged. the similar devastation occurred at Kampong Lagang .
"As of today, I still see many residents forced to live in emergency shelters because their homes were lost or heavily damaged by the floods," said Teuku Kemal.
He emphasized that the presence of Universitas Malikussaleh and DIAN/Interfidei at the disaster sites is a testament to their concern for the community's suffering and a manifestation of the university's social responsibility during disasters.
"We hope this aid supports their religious activities as Ramadan approaches," he added.
Furthermore, he stated that the collaboration with DIAN/Interfidei represents a cross-institutional synergy aimed at strengthening humanitarian values and social solidarity within Acehnese society.
