Lhokseumawe – After extensive and enthusiastic preparations, The 2023 Aceh Regional Student Sports Week (POMDA) has finally begun. This yearly sporting festival, held at Malikussaleh University, has grown to attract students from all over the region who want to participate in a variety of sports and celebrate the spirit of unity through their passion for athletics.

The opening ceremony took place at the Malikussaleh University Bukit Indah Campus in Lhokseumawe, on Sunday, September 17, 2023. POMDA 2023 heralds the beginning of a ferocious and thrilling fight among universities and colleges from all areas of Aceh. This competition is renowned as a venue for young student-athletes to establish themselves at the regional level and realize their sporting ambitions.

In his speech, the Chair of the 2023 Aceh POMDA Committee, Dr Alfian MA, expressed his gratitude to all parties who have contributed to making this POMDA an unforgettable memory for all participants. This POMDA is clear evidence of the commitment of regional students to develop their athletic potential and their sense of community. “Through this event, we hope to foster friendship, unity, and a spirit of healthy competition among the participants,” said Alfian, who is also Malikussaleh University's Deputy Chancellor for Student and Alumni Affairs.[tmi/Dini Rizki]
